Reforestation of the Hope Watershed

The Hope Watershed provides the majority of the water used for domestic and commercial purposes in the Kingston Metropolitan Area. Reforestation of this degraded watershed will increase infiltration, reducing surface runoff and thus erosion. With less erosion, less sediment will find its way into rivers, improving downstream water quality. In addition, these trees will capture carbon from the atmosphere. A total of 4,200 trees will be planted in the Hope watershed.
